Anyway, the real reason for posting is because I am having a hard time getting Theo to eat solids and am not much in the mood for snapping photos. This post is a cry for help to any and all experienced mothers out there -- have your babies at one point refused to eat solids after months of devouring them? My theories are (a) he is sick of sweet potatoes, squash, peas, carrots, apples, pears, and bananas -- the staples of his diet; (b) I tried to give him papaya the other day and he was so devastated by the experience that he won't eat now; (c) he is teething or coming down with something; (d) he is punishing me for nursing him only once or twice a day now.
Any comments, suggestions, advice would be much appreciated. The doctor says not to worry -- just make sure he is drinking, keep offering, and see what happens. Of course a doctor's opinion is not good enough for me.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
It's probably (b) since papaya tastes like barf. As long as he is drinking enough formula, I wouldn't worry, its probably just a phase and most definitely NOT (d). Amelia never eats anything, like literally nothing and has survived to see her second year. Her pediatrician is like, whatever, it's cool as long as she is stable in her weight percentile and I believe him because it makes me feel better.
ReplyDeleteThis last month I haven't been at the dinner table much because of endless sickness, and one time I asked Andy what she ate for dinner and he said three grapes. When she goes to toddler preschool they give us a little write up of everything she ate and it's like, mixed fruit salad, grilled cheese, roasted endive salad with point reyes blue cheese and candied walnuts, etc. I find it all very hard to believe because at home she eats like, half a bite of apple, and three cheerios, and calls it a day.
Sue, I'm with Laura. Addie hardly ate all summer and now that we're all back to school, she is eating chicken from ETS like nothing ever happened. I was sure she'd lost weight, but she actually managed to gain a few ounces on her strike. Just to spite me, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteAt least Theo is still supposed to get most of his nutrition from breastmilk/formula now. He'll definitely come back around when he's ready.
It's so cool to see pics of hime sitting and frolicking on the rug now!
