Artistic Differences.

This is a bit of an aside, but Jon pointed out the other day that he doesn't love that I refer to us on the blog as "Mommy and Daddy." He wanted me to change "Mommy and Daddy" in the Making Strides posting to "Jon and me." I sort of feel though that this blog is really for Theo to read some day and we are Theo's Mommy and Daddy, though I guess if he wants to call us by our first names that might be okay, if not a bit contrived, like something the ex-hippy father on Family Ties would let his kids do.

Now all of the sudden I feel like a weirdo referring to myself in the third person as "Mommy" which is cute if you are actually talking to your baby but not as cute when addressing grown-ups, who make up the base of my audience I suppose. Still, being the sole contributing parent to this blog, I will continue to refer to myself, for Theo's sake, as Mommy until Theo informs me that he would like to call me "Sue" or "Suzanne." I will refer to Jon as Jon(athan)/Daddy. Perhaps, though, he should post his feelings on the topic. We haven't heard much from Jon(athan)/Daddy in quite some time here at Weymouth Baby.

  1. Here's a question: is it even creepier still to blog in the first person, as if the baby himself is writing the blog? I've seen it more than once. It's all shades of grey, this babyblog business.

  2. I would rather you refer to Theo as "Kristen." Thank you.
