Mystic, CT - Aquarium
In honor of Mother's Day/40th Birthday (mine), Uncle David met Theo and me in Mystic, CT for an extravaganza. We partied hard at the Howard Johnson hotel, festivities catered by the Mystic Diner (carrot cake, mocha chocolate cake, and Boston cream pie). The party followed a dinner at Johnny's Peking Tokyo, where Theo behaved like a little beast because we weren't at some dumb gross restaurant like the 99 or Friendly's. As Uncle David put it, "Theo was acting like he was having his leg sawed off." Theo was still able to obtain chicken nuggets while we enjoyed our sushi but even with the nuggets and a Shirley Temple, Theo could not stand that we were in an eating establishment that didn't give you crayons upon entry and had no chocolate milk on offer. We bounced back at my party and had a nice breakfast on Mother's Day at...the Mystic Diner. Other highlights include: a ride on the Essex Steam Train; the Aquarium; a nice dip in the HoJo pool; and a Friday night meal at the Steak Loft (where we also saw some "unexpected" behavior from Theo but it was brief and due to fatigue and he was very sensible with his salad bar choices so I commend him for that).
