Scotland.

Theo and I put together an admittedly fantastic table representing Scotland for Ralph Talbot Elementary School's International Night. Included at the table:

1. A replica of the Loch Ness Monster (Playmobil makes a Nessie! Who knew)in a homemade swamp accompanied by the story of the Loch Ness Monster.
2. A real set of bag pipes
3. A slideshow of all things Scottish (made by Uncle David)
4. Shortbread samples along with Great Aunt Ann's famous recipe
5. Mini golf! We set up a putting green, Scotland being the home of golf, and truth be told, this one item made us the most popular table (rivaled possibly by France who was giving out full-size crepes).

Theo did a great job stamping everyone's passport (each student got a passport and if each country was stamped the student got a coupon for one night of no homework!)and filling people in on the myth of Nessie. I monitored the golf as it was ambitious having a room full of hundreds of kids clamoring to swing around a full size putter. I must have said "gentle" and "keep the club below your waist" close to 1000 times. Not everyone adhered to my guidelines but no injuries.

All in all a success and a night that gave life to the wise old adage, "if it's not Scottish, it's CRAP!"
